About this record
About this record
Released in October 1977, Never Mind The Bollocks Here's The Sex Pistols was the band's only studio album and remains the defining record of British punk. Johnny Rotten's sneering vocals ride over Steve Jones' thick, overdubbed guitars and Paul Cook's driving drums, and producer Chris Thomas gave it a punchy, full sound that set it apart from many rougher punk records of the time.
The album gathers the singles Anarchy In The U.K., God Save The Queen, Pretty Vacant and Holidays In The Sun alongside Bodies, Problems and the label-baiting EMI. It went to number one in the UK despite the controversy over its title, and its mix of fury, humour and big hooks still sounds sharp today.
