Radiohead – Kid A | 2LP Reissue, XLLP782B (New, Sealed)

Released in October 2000, Kid A was Radiohead's fourth album and a deliberate step away from the guitar-led sound of OK Computer. Working again with producer Nigel Godrich, the band built the record from synthesisers, drum machines, treated vocals, strings and brass. It debuted at number one in both the UK and the US and is now regarded as one of the defining albums of its era.

The music sits somewhere between alternative rock, ambient and electronic music, drawing on the textures of IDM and experimental composition. Everything In Its Right Place opens on a looping electric piano, The National Anthem pairs a heavy bass riff with a free-form brass section, How To Disappear Completely floats on swelling strings, and Idioteque is driven by a stuttering electronic beat. It is an album made to be heard from start to finish, which suits a double LP well.
