Metallica – Metallica (The Black Album) | 2021 US 2LP, Remastered 180g (New, Sealed)

Metallica's self-titled fifth album, known as the Black Album for its plain black sleeve, was released in August 1991 and produced by Bob Rock with James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich. It debuted at number one in the US and became one of the best-selling albums of its era, taking the band from thrash metal heroes to a worldwide mainstream act.

After the long, complex arrangements of ...And Justice For All, the band cut the songs down and slowed the tempos, building them around huge, deliberate grooves. Enter Sandman and Sad But True hit with crushing weight, Wherever I May Roam adds an Eastern-tinged drone, and The Unforgiven and Nothing Else Matters bring in clean guitars, strings and Hetfield's most direct vocals.
