Why This Record Matters
Released in October 2006, Back to Black was Amy Winehouse's second and final studio album. Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi produced it, and its sound draws on 1960s girl-group soul and Motown. 'Rehab' became her signature song. At the 2008 Grammys she won five awards, including Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album. It reached No. 1 in the UK, peaked at No. 2 in the US and has sold about 20 million copies worldwide.
